Understanding Product Management

When talking about product management it is important to know what we really are talking about. Let’s start from the basics and learn what is product management.
Product management is knowing how to deliver a product to a certain audience. Product management consists in vision, design and execution of your product.

Vision
The vision of the product should formulate and target an audience, the problem that is been solved and the unique solution you come up with to win the market.

Design
This involves the feature to achieve improvement over solutions that your competition offers. It is a good idea to work with designers to make sure that your product will deliver on the vision of your product and how it will be different from others.

Execution
This element is the one where you have to do whatever it needs to be done for your product to rise above the competition. For a good execution it is recommendable to have some tasks and track the tasks for a better result.

Having an understanding of these elements are important to have good project management skills. Remember that as a product manager, you always want to improve, and be better than the competition but as you develop good product management skills, it is also good to improve your team’s performance. If these elements are well performed with the use of the social media platforms such as: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. the product will launch just like a sky rocket.

Keep in mind that with social media you can either create and deliver a great product, or you can have a great product and completely destroy it because of a poor understanding and research of the product.

The key to be a successful product manager you have to be excellent at: Knowing the market, the product, the product line and most importantly, knowing your competition. A good product manager will execute a winning plan; no excuses.
