Steps Before Shooting a Wedding

Shooting a wedding might look a very easy job for most people, this happens quiet frequently and sometimes the customers think they pay a lot of money for just grabbing a camera and press record. If you are in the process to start your own video production business and want to focus on weddings here are some steps that customers will really appreciate, and will make them understand that your work is worth the money they are paying.

MAKE YOUR CUSTOMER FEEL IMPORTANT
-It is a good idea to demonstrate that you really care about the special day. When having the first talk, either through a phone call or in person, ask for the bride’s name and the groom’s name and remember them. This way you will start gaining their trust in the project you might be doing.

ASK FOR DETAILS
-It is very important that you ask for the date that the wedding is going to be celebrated. Make sure that you know what type of ceremony will be celebrated (what kind of religion or church is going to take place). This is very important because you don’t want to disrespect your customers believes, and most important, their wedding. Ask for contact information too, that way, if you don’t hear back from the couple you can keep up with them and ask what their thoughts were about the information you provided them.

-If you don't have a contract yet, GET ONE! This step is very important, not only for you and your records but for the couple as well. Make sure you go through the wedding contract you created with your customer. Be very honest and explain what every package covers. If there are no packages and you just offer one video package, explain to your customer what you will cover the wedding day and what they should expect. BEFORE THE “BIG DAY”
-After having the wedding contract signed, you are ready for to shoot the “big day”. Always remember what type of church you are going to be attending. A good idea is to go to the rehearsal the day before and ask the priest or the pastor where can you set-up your equipment and if you are allowed to move around the church. After talking to the priest or pastor make sure you tell your customer what your limitations are inside the church or venue and how the video might end up looking. This is just for the couple what to expect, they will really appreciate that you are not going to disrespect their special day and will notice that you really care and want to give them the best memory of their lives.

These are just a few tips for those who are starting their video production business and want to get some tips for their business. Hope it was helpful!
